ONE DAY

Cobra radar sitting out of sight on the dash
A switch shuts off the brake lights in a flash
The cb is telling me where the bears are at
Another idiot thinking I can stop just like that

All my life I've been running over the road 
Dragging my freight from coast to coast
I've crossed many scales and paid my dues 
Here I am still singing dem ol' trucker's blues

One day I'm gonna come around
Get my feet planted on the ground
Quit dreaming my entire life away
I'm gonna come around one day

The day turns into night but I drive on
Two more states will be behind me before dawn
Shakey town will be where I empty the reefer
After twenty years my life's become a blur

Log books, d.o.t. fines and truckstop dives
Saturday night honky tonks making me feel alive
White line fever burned into my mind
Headed to the East coast one more time

One day I'm gonna come around

Until then I'll keep sitting behind this wheel
Sing country songs about how I feel
Grabbing gears and keeping my tail in the wind
Damn sure hoping those scales are closed again
