Doing It My Way

Having fun on the first hump day of June.

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe AI music is all slop? ✅

Nope. I think it all depends on what you want to get out of it. If you actually put a little time in anything it can turn out good. AI has helped all of us to make some killer images for our posts using the right AI prompts.

When I first started using AI to make music I was skeptical about if it would be slop or not. I had no clue what could be done with it but damn, it was fun.

Spotify pulled 70 million songs down calling them slop and turned around after making a deal with UMG and now are allowing people to remix songs on their site. Who says what slop is? More importantly why?

Money, it isn’t that hard to figure out.If a AI song hits number 1 on the charts which has happened, more than one person has liked it and somewhere someone said ‘I can make money off of this’. Not just the millions of people flooding the market with AI songs for ten cents a play but the heads of corporates who can and are changing the rules for their benefit.

So who draws the line? To me this is simple, let the music be heard and let the public decide, isn’t that what happened with rock & roll when it first came about ? Not everyone who hears AI music hates it straight away. Some people will listen to a song and be toe tapping along when all of a sudden they find out it is AI generated and instantly hate it. To me this is a closed mind reaction made by an insecure person to fit in a circle of public acceptance. In other words, sheep following a loud barking wolf into a open field.

It’s not new. It has happened before and I guarantee it will happen again. That’s the way the world turns. Not only in the realm of making AI music but in the human race to destruction. Follow the masses and we will keep you happy while showering hate into the air we all breath.

Enough of another rant and on to the answer. This is another song I’ve made for my radio dial 103.3 DM, a free station where AI music is promoted and heard for free. Is it slop? You tell me.

And now a song from the past that isn’t AI.

  1. Right on, Ernie! I agree totally with you and Willie. The only time I resent AI music is when it’s passed off as human. There were some pop-ups on YouTube about a homeless guy who allegedly appeared on America’s Got Talent. He had a phenomenal country voice and people were going nuts over this guy, but the whole thing turned out to be AI. My husband showed it to me and said “get a load of this guy, he’s got a great voice”. As soon as I started watching, I could tell it was AI; it was well done, but that’s the whole point, isn’t it. I love the music you produce so stick with it. Be well, Dawg. ☮️

    1. Thanks for the great reply Nancy. I believe if people would be honest up front about it then it wouldn’t be judged so harshly. I’m looking forward to day day I can put my own voice on my songs. I will still use the AI music until I learn my DAW system but at least I’m trying to be real about it. Have a funtastic day my friend!

I think people should judge the music by listening to it, not just by how it was made. I have a few AI songs on my playlist that I listen to non-stop. If a song connects with people and brings them enjoyment, that says something worth paying attention to.
