“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is not the quote I live by.. In fact it is absurd that someone could believe this although I did as a child because who ever thought that mom could be fibbing to me at such a young age?

As I took a caffeine,nicotine break I had ample time to paddle over to my bookcase and find this quote in ‘Silent Screams’ that I lived by from my mid-teens to retirement.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow, what a ride!’ Hunter S. Thompson

Since I retired almost six years ago I have found that another quote has replaced that one. John Lennon’s bedroom sessions left us with this one, “Give peace a chance”
