What was the Question?

Does it really matter? I changed it and forgot.

You’re entering a dive on St. Paddys Day, Are you wearing green?

Welcome to the Dawghouse Dive, the home of constant construction and sometimes comically confused chaos.

In my younger daze I used to frequent a dive called O’Sullivans. An irish pub that kept the house rockin’ all year long. It had a big blarney stone in the back that I have kissed more than once over the years, usually as I was falling into it in a drunken stupor.

On this day each year you could enjoy irish traditions such as drinking green ale and eating lamb stew which was pretty damn good by the way.

In the late 80s dancing on the tabletops was a pretty common thing as well as bringing things in to be hung on the walls. There were some interesting things up there from bras to road signs.Darts was the most popular game there and let me tell ya that you had to be aware of where you were walking when headed to the dance floor as steel tip darts hurt damn it. No plastic tips at this bar!

Frank and Tommy were the owners and I played darts on Frank’s team in a league. I went in one afternoon on my birthday which was [and still is] in February and bellied up to the bar next to them. I ordered a beer and Tommy told Louie [the top bartender] I couldn’t buy one. WTF? I was confused for a hot second. Tommy then told Louie that all my beer was on the house as it was my birthday, the catch? I had to do a shot with every beer. The shots were not of my choice but rather one from each bottle on the shelves. “Hell yeah!: says me.

Needless to say I got hammered that night. Later on I wandered outside and passed out in the middle of main street. They told a friend of mine to bring me back inside and his drunk ass came out and grabbed ahold of my left arm and pulled me back inside. One small problem, when he got to the curb he didn’t slow down and broke my right rotator cup. The next morning I woke up with a killer hangover and the need to go to the E.R.

Fast forward to St. Paddy’s day. My arm is in a sling and we have a tournament. Throwing darts left handed was a new experience for me and we lost our games that night. All turned out good though as even with my wing clipped I was able to enjoy the green ale and irish stew.

I hope you all enjoy this today and be sure to wear green as purple will be your color if not. Here is “Green Fungus” a little diddy I bring to you on this special day.
