This used to be my opinion on professional sports while college players had to show their worth to make it to the big show, now-a-days even college players are picking and choosing which college to ‘transfer’ to for the money. Why would I respect any of them for that?
Money should not be the motivator of respect, respect should be earned on merit of deed not the size of the bank account, and in my eyes I haven’t seen any unselfish deeds here of late from any professional athletes.

Eavesdropping was easy when I was young
Listen in on a party line and enjoy the fun
Go outside and tell everyone that you knew
All the juicy stuff you never learned in school
With age the shine wore off of the party line fun
The drama and the hurt seemed to become one
I had no desire to know all the gossip and lies
I didn't care who had been born or who had died
