Poetry That Touches the Heart: Ever So Gently

Opening this book with “The First Morning” sets up the peaceful feelings of a brand new day. It provides a terrific beginning of what is to follow.

The poems in this collection continuously paint vivid pictures. Each poem takes us on a reflection of thoughts about life. They explore the pleasures and the pain found within.

“First Breath” [page 42] is a wonderful poem showcasing the emotions of motherhood. “Mirrors” [page 89] offers us personal reflections of loving oneself. It encourages accepting our flaws without judgment.

I found “Diane” [page 42] a very emotional and heartfelt tribute. It captures the tragedy that encompasses our lives as a life’s journey comes to an end.

All in all I’ve found this book to be soothing and enjoyable. Lauren has opened her heart and has allowed us all a glimpse of life through an artistic perspective.
