Fourteen to Zero

THIS IS NOT A RANT!

I submitted my PDF Wednesday morning for a total of fourteen tries. I have been rejected so much I literally gave up but with a little encouragement I submitted it one last time. This morning I seen the dreaded email in my inbox from IngramSparks.

When I clicked on it prepared for yet another rejection I was ecstatic to see that my e-proof was waiting to be looked at for approval !!!

This instantly lifted my spirits and put me in a great mood. Upon opening the email and downloading the PDF I couldn’t wait to see it.

After looking the e-proof over I finally understand one thing, go back to zero and start again. I see now why I was told to be patient and go slow. I was/am happy as hell that I can have a visual of what I have been doing wrong.

The cover needs minimal work now, just need to square the photo up and make a minor adjustment on the back. The inside however is an complete wreck of dawgy discord!

This however makes me happy too. By seeing this mess I can move forward knowing kind of what I am doing. So back to the drawing board and re-adjusting all my font sizes and figuring out the red box that holds my words on the page. I learned that it can not be right up against those red lines as that is the bleed? I am not sure but I do know that I have to stay away from touching it when setting up my paragraphs.

I am very pleased with the fonts I went with as they go good together so there’s that. Another great lesson I learned is that this book will go on the back burner for the rest of the year at least as the marketing that needs to be done will have me miss my release date and I have chose to wait another year to release it.

Why am I so happy if I have to wait for a year to release it ? A simple mind finds that it will give me plenty of time to tweak it the way I want and gives me ample time to get it right.

I will be moving forward with registering an ISBN # to my next project and hopefully I can stay ahead of this for marketing purposes. It is set to be released in the summer of 25′ but hasn’t been given a release date as of now. This gives me nine months to finish the almost complete formatting and still leave me plenty of time for marketing.

Another happy thought floats around the dawghouse as I stopped in at Hillsdale college’s bookstore and not seeing anything I was looking for got into a conversation with the clerk, turns out she is the asst. director of the bookstore and told me they would be interested in receiving an advanced readers copy. This tickles my fancy wholeheartedly!
