The early bird doesn’t get the worm today
Basting it with spices is more of the way
Getting tanned in an oven roasting style
Grandmas slow cooking this bird for awhile

Served up with fresh side dishes and gravy
Pumpkin pie and ice cream afterwards maybe
A nap in front of the tube is in line for the gents
Women talking of how these holiday's are spent

Kids all happy as they sit around their small table
Uncle Joe complaining the legs of it are not stable
Snow flakes twirling lightly in the crisp autumn air
Fruit cake in the corner with a sign reading beware

Auntie Katie is informing anyone who will listen to her

Buzzes are caught in many forms on this great day
Kids on sugar highs are forced outside to run and play

This next week we all will savor leftover tasty bird again
In made up dishes of  "Turkey surprise " eat it my friend 
And in a short 27 days we get to grandly feast one more time
As Saint Nick shows his face and we all get into a buffet line

Eggnog toasts to those that you hold so very dear and near
A wishing bone found in this juicy turkey on the servers plate
Brings happiness and joy for all of you to humbly embrace
