Kinda lost this morning as I sit here waiting to see what the day will bring. The coffee is tasting mighty fine, the weather outside promising another fantastic day, and the mind sits wrapped in fog.
Caffeine will no doubt bring my active imagination to life but it is taking it’s sweet time this morning. So another cup is being filled as I anxiously await to see where in the hell I am headed.
Usually by this time I have the stereo on and am running a needle across one of the many great choices I have in my collection or have put the reel to reel to use. Music has been an important aspect of my life for as long as I can remember.
As a child I refused to learn how to play the piano as I wanted to be like my older brother and learn guitar but NOOO dad wasn’t having any of that and the drums? Forget about it. So, instead of tickling the ivory I settled for watching my brothers guitar collect dust and found solace in the AM transistor radio my mother gave me for a birthday gift.
Understand this was in the sixties and FM was a far away reality leaving us the choice of one rock station that my dad despised, he hated rock and roll period. I would hide behind closed doors with an earphone in and explore the sounds of Jan and Dean or Iron Butterfly. Times were great in those moments.
Music has helped form me into what I am today which is a peaceful soul who loves almost any kind of music. There are genres that I contend aren’t music but that is my personal choice to not listen to them.
So life without music? I can’t start to imangine it but what I can do is share one of my favorite videos of how I feel.
So, enough of this silly question. The mind has came awake and with music playing I can now face another day.
