Animosity in Action

A look at the 7 deadly sins. {5 of 7}

#5 {Envy} – A noun referring to painful awareness of someone else’s advantage in life and a strong desire to possess the same. Used as a verb means feeling envy towards someone else’s good fortune.

Generally Speaking

I feel that everybody has dealt with this deadly sin and truth be told way more than once. As children growing up we all envied someone for something they had and we wanted. Even if you kept it hush – hush, it was still that emotion you had to deal with. An “I wish list” if you will.

As a young child maybe 4 or 5 I had a big red firetruck with all the bells and whistles. I was outside between our houses playing one day and a neighbor about the same age cracked me on the back of my head with a thick glass bowl and stole that damn truck. {it’s funny now but not then} Envy played a big part in that ordeal wouldn’t you think?

Keeping it Close

I had a brother {Andy} three years my senior and I envied not only his possessions but the attention he got as we grew up. In Junior high school I envied the guys who could go out for sports as I wasn’t allowed. In high school I envied the guys that had the cool cars.

As an adult in my late twenties I was driving a 1978 International B-Cab. {These things were small cab overs} I was going to Midland TX. and had left D/FW on I-20 having a five an a half hour drive.

It being late at night I had that thing to the floor and was screaming along at 77 mph top speed. The big Peterbilts and Freightliners called “Large Cars” that came into sight, zipped by and were gone, damn skippy I was envying them.

The Unlucky

There was a group that figured out long ago that power is knowledge and knowledge is control so they adapted the rules to their liking and every since men and women alike have envied that power.

Many throughout history are regarded as great and envied by the masses. “Helen of Troy” for her beauty if I’m not mistaken, along with a few others such as Nikola Tesla or Martin Luther King Jr. Unlucky as they all were in the end they were envied nonetheless.

Conclusion

So I’m thinking this one is hard but as long as it’s not put into motion it’s controllable, the only problem is motion baby motion. SINS 4 ME 1
